On December 22, 2016, Taiji Health Center, Shanghai University of TCM/Shanghai Academy of TCM was established and settled in Shanghai Qigong Research Institute. It is the first professional institution in Chinese universities to research and spread the concept of “Taiji Health”.

Taiji Health, symbolized by the profound Chinese Taiji culture, aims for the health concept advocated by WHO, which is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being as well as moral integrity. It also takes traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as technical means, including TCM health cultivation, Daoyin, massage, dietary therapy, medicated diet, mental therapy, and so on. We hope to build a self-healing model of “Taiji Health” for the health and well-being of people all over the world. 

First Overseas Taiji Health Center in Greece

On September 15, 2018, the first Taiji Health Center outside China was inaugurated at the University of West Attica, Athens. The inauguration ceremony and exchange activities were held by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SHUTCM), University of West Attica, and Shanghai Qigong Research Institute.

University of West Attica (formerly the Technological Educational Institute of Athens) was established in 1983. As the third largest comprehensive university in Greece, the school is a self-governed, multi-disciplinary, technology-oriented institution funded by the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs. The establishment of the first overseas Taiji Health Center in University of West Attica in Greece will promote the spread of Taiji Health concept abroad, and improve people’s health and well-being in both China and Greece.

Overseas Taiji Health Center in Spain

On December 14, 2020, the second overseas Taiji Health Center in Barcelona, Spain was established through an online ceremony held by SHUTCM and the European Foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

European Foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine is currently the only organization dedicated to promote traditional Chinese medicine in Spanish-speaking regions. It has cooperation with more than 50 TCM institutions and organizations in Latin America. The Barcelona branch of Taiji Health Center in Spain will serve as a base to promote Taiji Health in Spanish-speaking countries. It will further spread the concept and methods of Taiji Health abroad and benefit contemporary people through ancient Chinese Taiji wisdom.
