Level Courses for Foreign Qigong Instructors

Introduction

Level courses provided by Shanghai Qigong Research Institute are aimed at training and cultivating local qigong instructors for foreign Taiji Health Centers. Foreign qigong practitioners need rich experience of qigong practice and solid theoretical foundation before they become qualified instructors. They also have to deal with problems related to local cultural backgrounds different from traditional Chinese culture. Therefore, it is important for foreign qigong teachers to learn these level courses and improve their qigong practice and theoretical level.

These courses are mainly composed of three levels, and each level contains qigong practice, theories, and homework assignments.

Qigong practice

Level courses are based on qigong courses, which are compulsory for foreign qigong instructors. Generally, students should complete at least three basic qigong courses and pass the teacher's assessment.

Shanghai Qigong Research Institute regularly provides various basic exercise courses for foreign students, including Eight Sections of Brocade (Ba Duan Jin), Six Healing Sounds (Liu Zi Jue), Post Standing (Zhan Zhuang Gong), Return to Spring Exercise (Hui Chun Gong), Soft and Relaxed Exercise (Song Rou Gong), Six-Unity Exercise (Liu He Gong), Relaxation Exercise (Fang Song Gong), Sinew Transformation Classic (Yi Jin Jing), Entering Pan for Beginners, etc. We have high-level teaching staff who have taught qigong courses for a long time, and have rich experience in teaching foreign students.

Theoretical courses

One cannot improve without learning qigong theories, especially for qigong instructors. Shanghai Qigong Research Institute provides theoretical courses for those who want to know more about qigong, including basic traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theory, qigong advance and traditional theories, common qigong terminologies, prevention and treatment of qigong deviation, advanced traditional classics, etc. These courses can help you know about the relationship between TCM and qigong, have a deeper understanding of qigong, and avoid possible hazards, so that you will be more confident in practicing and teaching.

Homework assignments

After the theoretical courses, students should finish some homework assignments, which can assess the learning effect and consolidate the knowledge. At the same time, teachers get feedback through students' homework, which can further improve teaching content and methods.

The homework aims to allow foreign students to think deeply about qigong theory combined with their own practice and daily life, and constantly explore their own qigong path inward. Teachers will make comments and explanations to help students reflect on problems in their qigong learning.

Closing ceremony and certificates

After finish all contents above of each level, students will be awarded certificates. Teachers and students will also communicate and share their experiences at the closing ceremony.
