Held in Shanghai


From October 19 to 20, 2nd China-Shanghai International Taiji Health Symposium & 15th China-Shanghai International Symposium on Qigong Science were held in Shanghai with the theme of 'Taiji · Qi · health'. The conference was hosted by Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and organized by Shanghai Qigong Research Institute. Nearly 200 experts, scholars and health culture lovers from China, the United States, Japan, France, Germany, Sweden, Greece, Spain, Singapore and other countries attended the conference.

At the opening ceremony of the conference, Yang Yongqing, Vice President of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, delivered a welcome speech, and President Xu Jianguang congratulated by video; Zhang Huaiqiong, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Health Commission and Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Administrator of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zhao Wanjun, Vice Chairman of World Medical Qigong Society, Chen Xi, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Fitness Qigong Association, Chen Yujuan, Vice President of Hebei Medical Qigong Hospital attended the meeting and gave  speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Li Jie, Director of Shanghai Qigong Research Institute.

At the opening ceremony, Taiji Health Center of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine Society signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation. In the future, the two sides will carry out mutual visits in teaching and scientific research cooperation in the field of health of common concern, and plan to establish Macao Branch of Taiji Health Center.

During the conference, nearly 20 representatives held  topic exchanges on the research results and cooperation prospects of 'Taiji health' in the fields of self-cultivation, medical rehabilitation and cultural exchange, discussed and promoted the concept of 'Taiji Health', strengthened the connection between Taiji, Qigong and international natural medicine, and made Chinese traditional health preservation, a cultural treasure, play a better role in the physical and mental health of modern people. The following keynote speeches received high attention and warm response from the participants: Measurement + data + health! Implications of the Half-Century Road of Aerobics became medicine to Qigong/Taichi Research and Application by Zhu Weimo, a lifelong professor at the University of Illinois, The Origin and Future of Qigong and Lyon by Michele, Professor of Eastern Medical School, the First University of Lyon, France, The Value and Strategy of 'Taiji Health' International Dissemination under the Perspective of 'Belt and Road Initiative' by Li Jie, Researcher at the qigong Institute of Shanghai, and Internal Evidence of Cross-regional Culture and Common -- Jiang Weiqiao and Okada-style sit-in by Liao Chiyang, Professor of Japan Musashino Art University.

This conference set up three academic exchanges, namely 'The Exploration and Research of Taiji Health', 'The Research and Cultural Exploration of Qigong' and 'Health Preservation Experience and Gongfa Exchange'. During the Gongfa exchange, Yang's Taijiquan by Shanghai University of traditional Chinese medicine, Nourishing Gong by Hebei Medical Qigong Hospital, Six Healing Sound and Ba Duan Jin by Shanghai Qigong Research Institute, Taoist Hui Chun Gong by Singapore Qigong Association, Five Elements Exercise by Third Grade Team of Rose Primary School Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Taiji Qi Dance display by the foreigner team of Qidao School of Shanghai Qigong Research Institute and so on, won the continuous applause and cheers at the site.

During the conference, an interview was also held on the release of the second volume of 'Qi to Achieve Taoism'. Many people who participated in the compilation of the Dictionary of Common Qigong Glossary (French - Chinese & English - Chinese) shared their academic opinions and the overseas development of 'Taiji Health' with the participants. The dictionary was presented to students in the 'Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2019 Belt and Road Initiative High-end Chinese Medicine Seminar' .

Zhou Dunhua, the Party General Branch Secretary at Shanghai Qigong Research Institute, presided over the closing ceremony of the conference. 'China-Shanghai International Taiji Health Symposium' and 'China-Shanghai International Symposium on Qigong Science' have been successfully held for two and fifteen times respectively. At present, they have become an important academic platform for Shanghai and even the international communication and exchange of Taiji health culture and traditional Chinese medicine health culture.

It is reported that the Taiji Health Center of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established in December 2016. Taiji health is marked by Chinese traditional culture 'Taiji', aiming at the physical and mental health and good social adaptability of people advocated by WHO, taking Chinese traditional health care as the media, combining with profound traditional culture, promoting the concept and technology of 'Taiji health' to adapt to local culture and benefit people's health and well-being. At present, the construction of 'Taiji Health Center' has been officially listed in The Memorandum of Understanding between the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the people's Republic of China and the World Health Organization on the Cooperation of Traditional Medicine and The Outline of Shanghai Strategic Plan for the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (2018-2035), which is an important part of the implementation of the health strategy of traditional Chinese medicine in the future and one of the important measures to integrate into the grand strategy of 'Healthy Shanghai' and 'Healthy China'.

Paper submission guidelines:

1. Only one paper will be selected by each leading author.

2. Each paper generally can not be exceeded to 5000 printed characters in Chinese (around 3000 words in English).

3. The papers can be written in Chinese, Japanese or English. They must incorporate an abstract in Chinese and in English. The abstract can not be exceeded to 1000 printed characters in Chinese (around 600 words in English).

4. There are no specific requirements about the text format, but it must be printed clearly and attach the text document in electronic format.

5. If necessary, translation service can be provided for the paper abstracts. The translation fee is USD 20 per abstract and should be paid in advance.

6. The copies of the unaccepted paper submission will not be returned.

7. Submission period: From January 1, 2019 to August 30, 2019. The submissions received after the deadline will not be accepted.

- Registration fee: RMB 1000 per person

- Accommodation and transportation arrangements and expenses shall be the responsibility of each participant. No shuttle service is provided during the Symposium.
